Technology: Patented wet chemistry using site-specific additives to counter the oily characteristics of the soil and the low moisture content caused by thermal desorption process. The final material was directly loaded to rail cars for disposal.

The Boston Redevelopment Authority contracted with Soil Solutions for the remediation of a former scrapyard during the construction of the Boston convention center.

The RCRA/ TSCA waste required two forms of treatment: thermal desorption to reduce the PCBs to less than 2 ppm; and chemical fixation to reduce TCLP Lead levels to below the RCRA treatment goal of 0.75 mg/l.

The treated material was then shipped off-site by rail for disposal at a Subtitle D landfill.

Soil Solutions conducted TCLP treatability studies, designed and engineered the chemical fixation treatment, and provided/operated on-site process equipment using treatment chemicals.

Soil Solutions also managed the confirmatory analysis and the disposal operations according to those results.
