Treatability Testing and Treatment Design Services

Your Treatment Needs are Unique
SSTT recognizes that every site has particular characteristics, goals and requirements. We want to provide the best and most effective treatment technology for your site. That’s why the first step in our process is to make a thorough, expert project assessment. Our assessment will evaluate the history of the site and the contaminants of concern and review cleanup objectives and define regulatory parameters specific to the project.
Bench-Scale Treatability Study
Before we design a treatment plan, we will arrange to receive representative samples of your soil. We then test the samples using several patented and patent-pending reagents over a range of concentrations. The treated samples are analyzed at pre-qualified local laboratories and the results are used to select the treatment process that will best meet your cleanup goals.
Treatment Design Recommendations
SSTT uses the information collected in the treatability stage to design the cleanup plan. The treatment recommendation is based on: physical layout, bench-scale studies, quantity of impacted material, site-specific cleanup goals and state and federal regulations.
Pilot-scale Demonstrations
In certain cases, SSTT will prepare and implement pilot-scale tests to verify the effectiveness of a reagent blend under actual site conditions. The pilot study typically involves treating 100 to 200 cubic yards of impacted soils. Soil samples are taken both before and after treatment. Pilot studies can help pinpoint actual reagent dose requirements for a site, and may be needed to fulfill documentation requirements for certain treatment projects.
